A law clerk, who claims he has been bullied by a fellow worker to the point of psychiatric illness, has sued the Revenue Commissioners for up to £30,000 damages.

The complaints and alleged personal suffering of Mr Robert O'Leary, Mornington Tower, Mornington, Co Meath, were highlighted in the Circuit Civil Court yesterday when his counsel, Ms Sile P. O'Kelly, sought judgment in default of defence against the Commissioners.

Ms O'Kelly said it appeared the court's determination had been recorded as striking out the motion with a week to the defendants to present their defence with an order of costs to Mr O'Leary.

She told Judge Elizabeth Dunne her client had been previously threatened by another Revenue employee and was again working in the same office with him and suffering ongoing bullying.

Judge Dunne said it appeared the court's order had been made in the form recorded and she felt it would be wiser to issue new proceedings seeking judgment in default of defence.
