Kuwait City - Kuwait's cabinet has rejected Iraqi accusations that it had been stealing oil from border oilfields and urged the world community to take "serious measures" against Baghdad. "We urge the international community to take serious measures towards threats by the Iraqi regime," the cabinet said in a statement after its weekly meeting.

Iraq accused Kuwait of stealing its oil for the third time in four days yesterday, with one report saying it involved 300,000 barrels of crude a day taken from oil fields in the border area. Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990 after accusing the emirate of stealing oil and nibbling away at its territory.
