Greencore chief executive Patrick Coveney is to succeed Imelda Reynolds as president of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce in February.

Mr Coveney, who is vice president of the organisation, will be officially appointed to the position at the chamber’s first meeting of 2012.

He is to be succeeded as vice-president by Ulster Bank managing director John McGrane, the chamber’s current deputy vice president. Mr McGrane will then succeed Mr Coveney as chamber president in 2013.

Irish Times managing director Liam Kavanagh has been nominated to succeed Mr McGrane as deputy vice president. Mr Kavanagh will become chamber vice president in 2013 before taking on the role of chamber president in 2014.

“We are delighted that Liam has been nominated to the position of deputy vice president,” Dublin Chamber chief executive Gina Quin said. “He has been an active member of our council for many years and he is thoroughly deserving of the role.”

Mr Kavanagh said he looked forward to working closely with Mr McGrane and Mr Coveney. “Dublin Chamber of Commerce has a vision to make Dublin a great city to work in, visit and live,” he said. “I want to be a part of that vision.”
