Former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic could go on trial as early as October 19th on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity, a judge overseeing his case said today.

Karadzic last week requested a 10-month delay from the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, which is based in The Hague.

Karadzic faces 11 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity related to the 1992-1995 Bosnian war, including two counts of genocide.
