One of this year's participants, Jade Goody from Bermondsey, first appeared in the 2002 series of Big Brother and earned notoriety for her apparent ignorance. Examples included: "Rio de Janeiro, ain't that a person?" and "They were trying to use me as an escape goat."

However, after the 2002 series, she used her celebrity to good effect and her financial worth is estimated to be £8 million sterling (€12 million)

In the current Celebrity Big Brother series, all seemed to be going much as before but tempers began to fray on day seven as an "anti-Shilpa" clique was beginning to form in the house. In one outburst, Jackiey Budden (Goody's mother) asked Shilpa Shetty: "Do you live in a house or a shack?" Jack Tweed, Goody's boyfriend, allegedly called Shetty a "f***ing Paki" although show producers have denied this, stating that the actual word used was "c**t", seeming to suggest the term was less offensive.
