Iraqi Vice President Adel Abdul Mahdi has accused Israel of "massacres" in Lebanon in what is the toughest criticism so far by the Baghdad government.

Mr Abdul Mahdi called for an immediate end to fighting between Israeli forces and the Shia Hizbullah militants.
