An Irish teenager has drowned at a holiday resort in the Canary Islands.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed he died yesterday at Playa del Ingles on Gran Canaria, a resort popular with Irish and British holidaymakers.
No further information was available on the cause of the accident. The boy has not yet been named.
A spokesman for the Department of Foreign Affairs said its consul in the area was providing assistance to the family.
