Irish factory gate prices have fallen by 2

Irish factory gate prices have fallen by 2.3 per cent in the 12 months to March, but fuel costs have increased by over 20 per cent in the same period, according to official data released today.

The March wholesale price index shows that falls in the price of computers and office machinery in the 12 months to March 2005 drove down wholesale prices.

Computer prices fell 15 per cent; the other noticeable faller was basic chemicals, which fell 1.9 per cent.

The price of energy products rose by 15.1 per cent in the year since March 2004, while petroleum fuels increased by 20.2 per cent.
