Australia beat the Ireland under-19 cricket team by 49 runs in the semi-finals of the World Cup Plate competition in Bangladesh today.

Australia posted 340 runs for their 50 overs.  Ireland took the game to their opponents with Gary Wilson and William Porterfield opening in impressive fashion.

Andrew Riddles and Allen Coulter then provided an exciting last-wicket partnership to keep the pressure on Australia but Ireland came up just short, finishing on 291 for nine.
