An Irish team of chefs returns today from the Culinary World Cup 1998 in Luxembourg with three silver and one bronze medal and its junior team taking third place. The junior and senior teams worked solidly throughout the week. Junior team manager Patrick Clement was delighted with the result. "This is the first young Irish team ever to compete internationally. I am very proud of them. The whole country can be very proud of them," he said in Luxembourg.

The standard was exceptionally high, with 33 countries taking part in the event. The winning team in the junior section were the Canadians and the senior winner was Singapore.
