Ireland's largest Catholic newspaper has responded to the growth in Ireland's Polish population by deciding to print part of the weekly newspaper in Polish.

There are an estimated 200,000 Polish people living in Ireland. Around 90 per cent of Poles are Catholic.

The Irish Catholicsaid today a page of news, features and opinion will be devoted to the Polish community each week. This will be done in consultation with the recently established Polish Chaplaincy in Ireland.

The Irish Catholic'seditor Garry O'Sullivan said the newspaper also hopes to provide weekly Mass readings in Polish to enable Poles living in rural or isolated areas to follow the liturgy in their own parishes.
