The Tynan Society has criticised the Irish Rugby Football Union for its "continued neglect" of the 200 year old Co Dublin farmhouse, White Hall, which is situated in the green belt between Tallaght and Clondalkin.

It was the home of the poet and writer, Katherine Tynan (1859-1931) for almost two decades and in the late 19th Century was the meeting house of emerging writers, poets and Home Rule advocates.

The building has been extensively vandalised and last Friday firemen put out a fire started by youths in an out building.

Mr Peter Tynan O'Mahony, secretary of the society, said the IRFU had done little to safeguard the building.
