Army bomb disposal unit called to construction site in Poppintree

Army experts made safe a viable explosive device found in Ballymun, Dublin on Friday.

Gardaí called for the Army bomb disposal unit after a suspicious device was found on a construction site in Poppintree.

Nearby buildings were evacuated and local traffic was closed off for safety reasons while the bomb disposal team worked at the scene from around 7.40pm. The site was declared safe at 8.30pm.

The device was then taken to a safe military location for testing where it was later found to be a viable explosive device.
