Suspect device found in Cork city park

Army experts were called after a viable improvised explosive device was found in the Boreenmanna area of Cork city.

An army bomb disposal team was deployed after gardaí were alerted to a suspect device in a public park in the city.

The team rendered safe the device without the need for a controlled explosion.

The area around the park was cordoned off during the operation.

Gardaí have launched an investigation into the incident.
