Industrial action at Dublin Bus inevitable, says NRBU

There could be 24 hour stoppages, 48 hour stoppages or even the nuclear option of all out strike

Industrial action is inevitable in the Dublin Bus pay dispute, the National Rail and Bus workers Union (NRBU) has saud.

The union's general secretary Dermot O'Leary told RTÉ's Morning Ireland that nothing short of strike action will suffice.

“There could be 24 hour stoppages, 48 hour stoppages or even the nuclear option of all out strike.”

He said “elements” in Dublin Bus, the Government and the department of transport “seem determined to force people into disputes”.

The union is seeking increases of up to 31 per cent, to bring drivers in line with wage terms secured by Luas drivers earlier this year.

“The gap is just 1.05 per cent per year on the flat rate. Once that is agreed then we can talk about productivity.”
