An Iraqi court has postponed judgment in the trial of a man accused of killing two United Nations staff and wounding seven others in Baghdad last June.

The court granted the postponement until February 19th after more lawyers volunteered to defend Mr Fu'ad Hussein Haider and sought more time to study the case, an Iraqi police source said.

Mr Haider is accused of storming into the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) office in the Iraqi capital on June 28th and opening fire in a reception area before going upstairs and continuing to shoot.

At the time Mr Haider said he was planning to take FAO officials hostage in protest against UN sanctions imposed on Iraq for its 1990 invasion of Kuwait.
