An investigation is to begin into a crash in Co Wicklow yesterday in which one man was killed and seven bus passengers were injured.

The crash near Arklow on the N11 happened at around 5.15 pm and involved a car an a Bus Éireann coach. Gardaí said the car appeared to have been pushed back along the road for about 30 metres before ending up in a ditch.

Motorists helped the 25 passengers, some of whom were trapped on the coach, which was equipped with seatbelts.

Those injured were treated Wexford General Hospital; their injuries were not life-threatening.
