The Internet is to play a large part in an alcohol awareness campaign to be launched by the Health Promotion Unit of the Department of Health.

The campaign will target young people. There are ongoing discussions between the Health Promotion Unit and the drinks industry in relation to the training of bar staff in dealing with young people and with drunkenness. Research is also being commissioned into the effects of advertising on young people.
