Aer Rianta has claimed in the High Court the actions of striking British Midland workers are interfering with the safe operation of Dublin Airport.

The court heard British Midland had brought in employees from outside Ireland to help operate its Dublin services and the dispute between the company and its workers had escalated.

Mr Justice O Caoimh yesterday granted an interim injunction to Aer Rianta restraining the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers Union, its servants or agents from "orchestrating or co-ordinating the unlawful protests and blockades by protesting British Midland workers on airport property". The order continues until Wednesday.
