Enforcement proceedings begun by Kerry County Council against Independent FF councillor Danny Healy-Rae have been withdrawn. He has clarified that the alleged unauthorised quarrying work on an elevated site near Kilgarvan was "for agricultural purposes", writes Anne Lucey.

Cllr Healy-Rae had applied for a 38-house development at Gortnaboul, Kilgarvan. The application was refused because of a deficient sewage system and this refusal was upheld last August when Cllr Healy-Rae appealed to An Bord Pleanála.
