Former student kills teacher over bad marks

LUDWIGSHAFEN – A man (23) stabbed his former teacher to death with a knife at a vocational school in the southwestern German city of Ludwigshafen, German prosecutors said yesterday.

The former student confessed to the attack, saying he was angry because the teacher had given him bad marks, prosecutor Lothar Liebig told a news conference.

The man, arrested by police and due in court today, also attacked another teacher who was not hurt.

He also fired several times at random with a replica pistol using blanks in a different building at the school. – (Reuters)

Mercy killing broadcaster bailed

NOTTINGHAM – Ray Gosling, the broadcaster who confessed in a television programme to the mercy killing of a lover, has been released on police bail.

Gosling (70) left Oxclose Lane police station in Nottingham yesterday via a back entrance after being questioned on suspicion of murder for a day and a half.

His lawyer, Digby Johnson, said: “He has been released on police bail. There are further inquiries to be carried out by the police. He provided the police with a lot of information and they have now got to sift through that.” – (PA)
