Clapton raises $2.15m in guitar charity auction

NEW YORK – British rock star Eric Clapton raised $2.15 million (€1.56 million) at a New York auction of 75 guitars and 55 amplifiers on Wednesday, more than triple the pre-sale expectations, auctioneers Bonhams said.

The proceeds from the sale, at which every lot found a buyer, will go to the 65-year-old guitar legend’s Crossroads Centre drug and alcohol treatment facility in the Caribbean. – (Reuters)

Judge delays jail decision on Lohan

LOS ANGELES – A judge yesterday gave actor Lindsay Lohan two more weeks to plead guilty to a charge of stealing a $2,500 (€1,800) necklace in January, delaying any decision to return the Hollywood starlet to jail.

Lohan (24), pleaded not guilty to the charge in early February, and a judge gave her until yesterday to agree to plead guilty or no contest. – (Reuters)

Sheen sues Warner after being fired

LOS ANGELES – Charlie Sheen yesterday filed a $100 million (€72.5 million) lawsuit against Warner Bros for firing him from his Two And A Half MenTV show.

The suit names the show’s producer, Chuck Lorre, as a co-defendant, and was filed on behalf of the programme’s cast and crew, according to a copy of the suit posted on a celebrity website. – (Reuters)
