The severe wintry conditions caused delays for many motorists throughout the country this morning.
AA Roadwatch is advising all motorists that the now-sunny conditions can be deceptive and that the roads have not necessarily thawed out. Met Éireann says the frost will linger in some sheltered areas all day.
The bad weather has also caused some ferry services from Dublin port to be cancelled.
Northern Ireland was particularly badly hit by the weather, and further snowfalls and freezing are expected today and tomorrow. Bus and rail services in the North are subject to disruption today.
Met Éireann is predicting more snow showers and temperatures between two and five degrees today. Rain, sleet and frost are also forecast for this evening. Frost is expected to clear from the West as temperatures rise throughout tomorrow.
In Dublin, conditions caused some delays, although most roads had been gritted by rush hour. Extreme care is still needed driving through the Phoenix Park, as all main roads are still icy.
An earlier accident on the Lucan Road/N4 at the Liffey Valley turnoff, near the Foxhunter pub, caused some delays.
In Cork city, not all northbound bus services are operating, and the Number 3 bus is only operating as far the Commons Road.
