HAVANA - Hurricane Lili lashed the Cuban mainland early yesterday with gusts of wind buffeting Havana and knocking down trees and power lines. The hurricane pounded central Cuba with sustained 90 mph winds and torrential rains as the Bahamas braced for the coming storm, the National Hurricane Centre said.

At least 10 people were killed and hundreds driven from their homes as rain from Lili lashed Central America.
