Cali - About 50 hostages kidnapped eight days ago by Colombian rebels have been held at the mercy of the elements, with little food, in a steep mountainous area, according to footage from a local television station.

A cameraman from "Notipacifico" managed to get to the remote area, where rebels of the National Liberation Army (ELN) are keeping one of two groups of churchgoers still in their custody from a raid on May 30th.

It was from this area that the guerrillas released five hostages on Saturday, for health reasons. There are now 30 remaining in the group, the station said. In another area, where the cameraman was not able to go, are 24 more hostages, rebels said.
