Publisher Mr Mike Hogan has denied any knowledge of a hard-core pornography website advertised in a magazine run by his company. He has contacted the Garda about the advertisement.

In the current issue of Irish Wedding and New Home, run by Hoson Publishing, 13 supposedly wedding-related websites are advertised. Twelve of the sites are not yet running, but the 13th is a link to a US pornography site, which charges $29.95 a month to join.

Mr Hogan said he had no idea that one of the websites advertised in the magazine contained pornographic material. He said that, considering his history, he was aware of the need to check potential advertisers carefully.

"I know nothing about this except that they [the advertisers] phoned in and we took the ad. We took it in good faith. We got a PO box number from them, a telephone number and a name and we have now reported it to the gardai."

The advertisement contains no company name or logo, and Mr Hogan acknowledged that "we should perhaps have been suspect of it" for that reason. Last October, Mr Hogan was fine £50,000 for publishing advertisements in In Dublin magazine which promoted brothels and prostitution.
