Question: "I think I used the term `sexual affair'. And, so the record is completely clear, have you ever had sexual relations with Monica Lewinsky?"

Answer: "I have never had sexual relations with Monica Lewinsky. I've never had an affair with her." - Deposition hearing in the Paula Jones civil law suit.

January 21st: "I don't know any more about it than I've told you, and any more about it, really, than you do. But I will co-operate. The charges are not true. And I haven't asked anyone to lie." - National Public Radio interview.

January 21st: "It means that there is not a sexual relationship, an improper relationship, or any other kind of improper relationship." - PBS television interview.

January 22nd: "The allegations are false, and I could never ask anybody to do anything other than tell the truth. Let's get to the big issues there - about the nature of the relationship and whether I suggested anybody not tell the truth. That is false . . . I'd like for you to have more rather than less, sooner rather than later. So we will work through it as quickly as we can and get all those questions out there to you." - At the White House with Yasser Arafat.

January 26th: "I'm going to say this again: I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky. I never told anybody to lie, not a single time." - At a White House news conference.

July 31st: "No one wants to get this matter behind us more than I do - except maybe all the rest of the American people. I am looking forward to the opportunity in the next few days of testifying. I will do so completely and truthfully. I am anxious to do it. But I hope you can understand why, in the interim, I can and should have no further comment on these matters." - At a White House public event.
