A man wanted in Spain in connection with the death of his wife had his extradition hearing adjourned today.

Mr Michael Dermot McArdle (32), from Dundalk, Co Louth, was on holiday in Marbella in Spain with his wife (28) when she fell from the balcony of their apartment.

The death of Kelly-Anne, a mother of two, was originally believed to be accidental. But after a post-mortem on her body and a lengthy investigation, Spanish police issued a European arrest warrant for Mr McArdle.

At the High Court today, lawyers for the DPP said the State needed time to deal with an affidavit it had received from the Spanish authorities.
