Irishwoman Dr Una May, an independent observer for the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) at the Athens Olympics, believes the recent revelations of drug-taking at the Games show the agency's programme is working.

"It's obviously a very important time for us. We've been targeting particular concerns and, if we uncover any cheating, that has to be a happy outcome and shows that the anti-doping progamme is working well," said Dr May, who has managed the Irish Sports Council's (ISC) Anti-Doping Programme since 2001.

"I personally am very honoured to be chosen to come to Athens, and I think it's a very good reflection on the ISC and our efforts in this area."

Dr May and nine other experts from across the world will be acting as independent observers during the Games.
