Lecture on  the rights of the disabled

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is the theme of a public lecture by Prof Oddny Arnardottir of Reykjavik University, Iceland, at NUI Galway later this week.

The lecture, which is being hosted by the Centre for Disability Law and Policy at NUI Galway, will take place in Room MY129, Áras Moyola, at 7pm on Friday. For more details, tel: 091-494020.

Holistic health fair opens in RDS

Rude Health, the annual holistic health fair organised by the Irish Association of Health Stores, goes ahead on Saturday and Sunday in the RDS, Ballsbridge, Dublin.

As well as a wide range of stands on various foods, cosmetics and healthcare products, visitors can attend talks on nutrition, mental health, natural beauty care and various approaches to preventing ill-health.

Workshops in ‘quantum healing’

Quantum healing is a form of consciousness medicine which combines the theory of quantum physics with the experience of subtle energies.

Holistic therapist Julie Williams will lead a series of workshops on quantum healing over the next few months.

Free health check at over-50s show

The Senior Timesover-50s show is on at the University of Limerick Arena on Saturday and Sunday next. The lifestyle event for older people includes free health checks and medical advice and tips on healthy eating.

Stop smoking in six weeks
