Do you think you have a healthy lifestyle?

When I compare my lifestyle to other people my age, I would say, on a scale of one to 10, I’m up around a seven. That said, I’m not altogether happy with my lifestyle. I wish I had the willpower to work harder on my health. I guess I let too many things get in the way.

How often do you exercise?

Not enough. I try to get a long walk in most days. I get up at 3.30am during the week to be at my desk preparing the 4FM breakfast show by 4.30am and I’m often tied up until the afternoon. So usually I’m exhausted when the opportunity does arise to go walking. It’s my aim to change that now though, because it’s officially springtime, the evenings are brighter and I live beside the Phoenix Park. It’s a shame to ignore such a beautiful amenity on my doorstep.

Do you get your five a day?

I do, most days. I eat healthy. Small portions frequently. I eat a lot of stir fries and I eat as much fruit as I can throughout the day. I find it’s a great way to keep up my energy levels and I take some fruit and veg supplements.

Do you worry?

I would be lying if I said I didn’t. I do, quite regularly I suppose; but I also try to remind myself that worrying is a pointless exercise. The tendency to worry achieves nothing only more worrying and panic and fear, and all those horrible emotions that drain us and keep us awake all night.

What do you do to relax?

I love cooking, so I enjoy experimenting with simple dishes. I invested in a wok recently, and bought a book of wok menus. It’s amazing what you can do with a wok, a selection of vegetables, a small amount of lean diced meat and some spices and soy sauce. And of course I read, and read, and read.

What is your unhealthiest habit?

I love my few pints of Guinness. I hate to say it, but I can’t resist the black stuff even though I’m trying to get my weight down. I’m not a lover of any other type of drink, apart from a couple of glasses of Pinot Grigio if I’m out to dinner.
