THE National Children's Resource Centre at Barnardo's is currently updating its database on the provision of parenting programmes. This database provides information nationally to individuals seeking parenting programmes. Those involved in delivering such programmes who wish to be included in the database should contact Geraldine French of Parenting Programme Research for a questionnaire at: Barnardo's, Christchurch Square, Dublin 8. "DANCING on the Edge" is the title of the fifth European Congress of Psychology which is being held in University College Dublin from July 6th to 11th. A number of precongress symposia will be open to the public next Saturday and Sunday, including workshops on Working With Bereaved Children by Diana Crossley and Measuring Stress in the Workplace by Charles Speilberger. DR Stanislav Grof, cocreator of Holotropic Breathwork, a system of experimential psychotherapy, and believer in the healing potential of "nonordinary states of consciousness", will be in Dublin next weekend for seminars and lectures on "The Transpersonal Psyche". On Saturday there will be a public lecture, "Observations From Modern Consciousness Research" in Taney Parish Hall, Dundrum from 2 to 5 p.m. The seminar, Implications for Therapy, Healing and Medicine", which is aimed at professionals, takes place on Sunday in the Engineers' Club, 22 Clyde Road, Ballsbridge, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The fee for attending on Saturday and Sunday is £75 (which includes lunch on Sunday) and £12 for Saturday only. THE National Maternity Hospital, Holles Street is seeking women to participate in a worldwide study on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). Doctors at the hospital will examine the effect of two kinds of HRT on menopausal symptoms. They will also investigate the effect of HRT on the quality of life, the prevention of osteoporosis and the reduction of heart disease. Women interested in participating in the study must be aged between 45 and 65 years of age and generally in good health. The studies will be conducted over one and two year durations, volunteers will be given a full medical checkup before starting treatment and will be monitored over the period.
