Golf:Headfort eased into the Barton Shield final where they will take on Dunmurry, who came through a tough battle with Bandon on the opening day of the GUI Cups and Shields finals at Castlebar Golf Club in Mayo.

Headfort's Joe Dillon and Greg Mungovan defeated Galway's Joe Lyons and Damien Coyne by two holes in the top match, while Rory McNamara and Brian Casey were comprehensive five hole winners over Eddie McCormack and Damien Glynn as the Leinster champions won by seven holes overall.

Dunmurry's passage was a more taut affair as they squeezed through by the narrowest of one hole margins against the Munster champions. Darren Crowe and Patrick McGlone finished all-square with Bandon's John Carroll and Dwayne Twomey before Crowe's brother Stephen and Glen McAuley sealed the deal for the Ulster representatives with their one-hole victory.

In the Junior Cup semi-finals Naas are through to the final after their 3.5-1.5 semi-final win over East Cork, while Portumna will join them after overcoming Banbridge by the same margin.
