London - The beleaguered Conservative leader, Mr William Hague, had something to smile about yesterday. An opinion poll carried out by the Sun revealed that support for the Tories has risen by 6 per cent since their party conference, Luke Holland reports.

However, asked whether he had proven a capable leader, only 36 per cent said yes compared with 50 per cent who said no. And in response to the question of how they would vote were there a general election tomorrow, 31 per cent said Conservative while 52 per cent would support Labour.
