A 44 year old security guard has been charged in connection with a robbery outside Lurgan, Co Armagh, on July 1st. Mr Mervyn Walker, of Sunset Hill, Ahorey, Richhill, Co Armagh, appeared at a special court accused of robbing Ms Sandra Sloan of £30,000 which belonged to Centrepoint Leisure, and with using a firearm or imitation firearm to commit the offence.
An RUC detective sergeant told the court that when arrested, charged and cautioned, Mr Walker replied. "Nothing to say". The magistrate Mr Harry McKibben remanded Walker in custody to a special court in the Maze prison on August 28th.
