Irish builders suppliers Grafton has given details today of its recent acquisition in Britain which will add 12 locations to its British operations.

The businesses were acquired over recent months and have a combined turnover of £39.6 million sterling. The acquisitions bring Grafton's outlets in Britain to over 170.

Grafton owns the Woodie’s chain of DIY stores in Ireland.

Grafton bought G.A.Day Group based in Portsmouth which has seven locations in the South of England and Wales. In May the group bought BSG Builders Merchants, in East London and Essex and Norman Read Ltd in Stoke-on-Trent.

In February Grafton acquired Hawkesford Ltd, in Shropshire.

Commenting on today's announcement, Mr Michael Chadwick, executive chairman, said "These latest acquisitions confirm Grafton's commitment to continuing participation in the ongoing consolidation of the UK builders merchanting market."
