Muenster - Mrs Raisa Gorbachev, the wife of the former Soviet leader Mr Mikhail Gorbachev, is being treated for acute leukaemia, the director of a German university clinic said yesterday. Dr Karl Rahn said the 67-year-old Mrs Gorbachev was undergoing chemotherapy treatment and was in a very weakened condition in the Muenster clinic.
Mr Gorbachev is at his wife's bedside and a German newspaper said their daughter and grandchildren were also in Muenster.
