The aid agency Goal is appealing for £90,000 to provide shelter, food and education for the street children of the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa. The Olympic medallist, Mr John Treacy, launched the appeal yesterday. The first £10,000 has been donated by internet provider, Indigo.

Goal says the children are "malnourished, weak and diseased with little hope for the future. Those that can't face the daily challenge to survive turn to crime, prostitution or drugs."
