An 11-year-old girl who died in tragic circumstances in Co Offaly last weekend has been buried.
The family of Emily Barut paid their final respects during a small private ceremony at an undisclosed location yesterday afternoon.
Emily’s mother, Tullamore GP Bernadette Scully, is continuing to be treated in hospital.
Her family is asking the media to allow them to grieve in peace.

“We would appeal to the media to respect our privacy at this time due to the sensitive nature of the situation,” a family member said.
They added: “The family would especially like to thank the people of Tullamore and the surrounding areas for their kind thoughts, wishes and understanding.”
