Graham Geraghty has lodged an appeal with the Leinster Council, against the 48 week suspension imposed on him by the Meath County Board, according to reports this evening.

The County Board last week indicated that they did not believe that Geraghty would appeal the ban, which arose out of the player's sending off following Seneschalstown-Ballivor senior football championship match at Dunsany on August 5th, a game Geraghty's team Seneschalstown lost - and after which they were eliminated from the championship.

If his appeal is successful, the player's case will be sent back to the County Board to be re-heard.

The incident in question saw Geraghty initially sent off on two yellow cards, and subsequently reported by Dunshaughlin referee Jim Smith for alleged physical interference and verbal abuse.
