Several more Live 8 concerts are set to be announced, organiser Bob Geldof revealed today.

The former lead singer of the Boomtown Rats said concerts for Tokyo, Toronto and Johannesburg will be confirmed tomorrow.

Geldof , who received an honorary degree as part of University College Dublin's 150th anniversary celebrations today, said: "Three weeks ago Europe agreed, unbelievably, to double aid, throwing the ball back to the Yanks, the Japanese and the Canadians.

"So that forced me now to do, which I didn't want to do, a concert in Tokyo, Toronto, which we are announcing tomorrow."

The singer also called on Irish people to support the Irish Campaign Dublin Rally, taking place in Dublin city centre on June 30th.

"I am calling on as many Irish people as possible to come along after school, or before you go to the pub, and let everyone in Britain know you are taking part in the long walk to justice to make poverty history."

Geldof was honoured with his degree in recognition of his humanitarian work. Filmmaker and novelist Neil Jordan also received an honorary degree from UCD today. He previously studied Irish history and English at the university.
