PremiseS used by a gang suspected of carrying out a spate of robberies in Munster were raided by armed garda∅ yesterday morning.

The Dublin-based gang had set up a safe house in south Limerick some weeks ago and is suspected of carrying out the armed raid on the Bank of Ireland branch in Dooradoyle in Limerick on November 22nd, when three men got away with over £4,000. They are also suspected of carrying out a number of robberies in Co Cork.

Over 20 armed garda∅ from Limerick raided houses in north Dublin and a house in Co Limerick, where they recovered a firearm. A man was being held in Roxboro Garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
