Gardaí were yesterday investigating two deaths in Cork city, including the fatal stabbing of a Lithuanian man whose body was found on a pathway leading to his flat.

The Lithuanian, believed to be in his late 30s or early 40s, was found face-down near the front-door of a house at Rockgrove Terrace, near the Lower Glanmire Road, shortly after 4pm yesterday.

Gardaí are also investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body found in the yard of a distillery at the North Mall in Cork. They are not treating the death as suspicious.

The body of the Lithuanian had injuries to his head and upper body. He is understood to have lived in a flat in the house at Rockgrove Terrace. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Cork University Hospital.
