Gardaí have identified a man who was found dead in Tallaght on Tuesday and have issued a public appeal for anyone with information on the man to come forward.
The man's name would not be released until his family in Algeria had been informed, gardaí said.
It is understood that a member of the public recognised the man from the identity given by gardaí and called Tallaght Garda station yesterday afternoon.
Gardaí had been hoping that a reference to University College Galway in the dead man's belongings may help to identify him.
He is thought to have died from hypothermia and gardaí have ruled out foul play.
The body was discovered at Killinarden Hill, Tallaght, Dublin, at about 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
He is believed to have been in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5 ft 8in, with black straight hair and a black beard. He was in possession of a small copy of the Koran which had a blue cover and a gold metal symbol embossed on the cover.
The book had two inscriptions in English on the inside cover. One said "London 94" and the other referred to the "Muslim prayer room, UCG".
Meanwhile, a second Garda appeal for help from the public yesterday in trying to trace the whereabouts of a missing Cork teenager resulted in her being found.
Ms Ashling Collins (17), from Belmont Place, Cobh, Co Cork, had been last seen in the Cobh area on February 20th and gardaí had launched a missing-persons investigation.
Within minutes of the teenager's details having been sent to media organisations yesterday, she was found safe and well in Dublin city.
