Gardai in Manorhamilton, Co Leitrim, are treating as murder the violent death of young man near the town. A man was last night helping gardai in the town with their inquiries.

The dead man was named locally as Mr Elliot Robertson, a Scottish national. He was a member of the New Age travelling community. It is believed he was assaulted following an argument at about 9.30 p.m. on Monday at the New Age traveller settlement at Bohey, on the Manorhamilton-Dromahair road. He died yesterday morning at Sligo General Hospital from his injuries. A post mortem was completed late last night by the Assistant State Pathologist, Dr Maire Cassidy.
