GARDAÍ WERE last night questioning two teenagers after a Garda patrol car was rammed three times as it pursued suspects after a suspected burglary in Waterford city.

Gardaí in a patrol car responding to a suspected burglary at 4am yesterday in the Templer’s Hall housing estate were struck as they attempted to apprehend the youths. The car then made off at speed to Lacken Road, and on towards Ballinamona.

The youths next made their way on to the Outer Ring Road, and drove along the dual carriageway near the Six Cross Roads roundabout on the wrong side of the road, according to Sgt Larry Langton yesterday.

Gardaí tried again to block the car and were rammed again. The teenagers then drove to nearby Ballybeg, a local authority housing estate. Here, the patrol car was struck a third time.
