Gardaí have apologised to a Co Galway family who claimed they were assaulted and imprisoned in their own home after it was mistakenly raided by gardaí in a search for drugs.

Kathleen and James Walsh and their children, Garry, Séamus and Carmel, Claregalway, Co Galway, brought an action after gardaí raided their home in March 2008. They alleged false imprisonment, trespass, invasion of privacy, negligence, breach of duty, assault and infliction of emotional suffering.

After talks, Ms Justice Elizabeth Dunne and a jury were told by Colm Smyth SC that the case was resolved.
