Gardaí appeal for witnesses to Tuam burglary

Four man gang tie up occupant of house and make off with small sum of money

Gardaí in Tuam are appealing for witnesses to an aggravated burglary at a house in Caherlistrane, Co Galway last night.

The incident occurred at approximately 9.30pm when four men entered a house near the church in Caherlistrane. They tied up the sole occupant - a man in his 60s. All four men had balaclavas and gloves and one was carrying a crow bar.

One member of the gang was wearing a blue tracksuit top with faded white writing on the front and jeans, two others were wearing dark tops with jeans and the fourth member was tall and thin and wearing all black clothes.

A small sum of money was taken and the occupant of the house was uninjured but shaken.

Gardaí are asking anyone who may have been in the vicinity of Caherlistrane between 9pm and midnight last night and saw any unusual or suspicious activity to contact them in Tuam on 093 70840, the Garda confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
