MURDERED TAXI driver Michael Healy (62) died in a manner in which no human being deserves, according to Fr Liam Kelleher.

At his funeral yesterday at St Lachteen’s Church in Grenagh, Co Cork, Fr Kelleher said the death of the taxi driver had shocked the community.

“There must be a huge amount of anger, a huge amount of questions but this is not the day for anger,” Fr Kelleher added.

“We must try and put that aside for the moment and trust in God.”.

He thanked investigating gardaí in the case for their sensitivity over the past few days.

Mr Healy’s sons Declan and Paul brought the Offertory gifts to the altar. These included a Cork GAA jersey signifying his love of sport.

Mr Healy’s body was discovered by his brother, Dermot, last Wednesday when he called to the his top-floor flat at Rocksprings Terrace at St Luke’s Cross in Cork city. He was buried in St Lachteen’s Cemetery in Grenagh.

His funeral was attended by a large number of taxi drivers who travelled from Cork city to pay their respects.
