TEENAGE JOCKEY Jamie Kyne, who died in a fire in England almost two weeks ago, will be buried in his native Co Galway on Saturday.

The 18-year-old died along with another apprentice jockey, Jan Wilson (19) from Scotland, when fire swept through their apartment block at Norton in Yorkshire. Police are treating the fire as suspicious and an appeal has been issued for witnesses to come forward

A thanksgiving Mass will be held at 11am today at St Leonard and St Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Malton in Yorkshire.

Jamie’s family have invited members of the racing community and friends to join with them in a celebration of the young jockey’s life. Jamie’s body will be flown home to Ireland tonight and a candlelit vigil will be held as it arrives at the family home in Kiltrogue in Claregalway.

Jamie’s body will lie in repose at Lackagh Mortuary Chapel from 4-8pm on Friday. His funeral Mass will take place in Lackagh Church at 11am on Saturday. He will be buried afterwards in Lackagh Cemetery.
